Field Engineer
OVERVIEW
This position will assist with the planning and development of a large and/or complex construction projects by ensuring that construction designs are safely and efficiently implemented. This position will also help manage the project budget, design plan sets, general permit compliance, and all additional site reporting requirements.
Initial Project will be in Robards, KY. Per Diem available for the duration of the project. Will be transferred to another project upon completion (approximately 10 months).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Position may involve performing other duties as required, which may not be mentioned below. Specific functions may change from time to time.
- Coordinating implementation of project objectives while ensuring all specifications, design requirements and client requirements are adhered to in order to successfully complete work scopes
- Assisting the Project Manager with subcontractor oversight/organization to ensure the project schedule is maintained
- Developing and maintaining project schedules and forecasts
- Working with the Project Manager and/or Project Engineer on project status updates including budget monitoring, schedule tracking, personnel, equipment, and resource needs
- Managing effective communications between technical, construction and project controls groups as well as client and their agents as directed by Project Manager
- Studying plan specifications and related documents (analyzing labor, material, equipment, and time requirements)
- Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data trends to generate conceptual, schematic and presentations of data to highlight impacts to project financials
- Completing daily project reports and production tracking as well as assisting in preparing weekly and monthly project update reports for Senior Management and clients
- Assisting with development of technical drawings, field layouts, field work progress and commodity tracking for billing and costs studies
- Developing and tracking RFIs, submittals, professionally written and graphical work execution plans
- Assisting in procurement of resources, cost evaluation of options and tracking financial components from procurement to internal costing allocations
- Collaborating with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Project Engineer, and Project Administrative Assistant to convey project status, work execution challenges and general project risks
- Preserving confidentiality, maintaining integrity and responsibility for ensuring work is completed per design and client requirements
- Performing other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management
Qualifications- Education, Experience, and Training
- Valid driver’s license is required
- Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management is required
- Ability to read construction design drawings and specifications is required
- Ability to perform field quantity takeoffs, drawing takeoffs and utilize advanced/applied mathematics to solve project planning and constructability issues is required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Bluebeam and/or Adobe is required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Agtek, Trimble Business Center, Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 is preferred
- Experience with Trimble site positioning systems is preferred, although ability to utilize conventional and GPS site surveying equipment is desired
- Ability to read construction design drawings and specifications is required
- 1-3 years of relevant engineering and field construction experience is preferred
- Specialized construction management training and project management training is preferred (CAP-M, Six Sigma Yellow Belt, etc.)

Working Environment:
- This position requires a flexible work schedule: nights, weekends, and holidays (early morning and potentially late evening work)
- This position requires working in an internal (office trailer) and external (job site) environment
- If you are required to go out onto the job site, you could be subject to the following atmospheric conditions that affect the respiratory system/skin: fumes, odor, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
- Must be able to climb, maintain body equilibrium, reach, grasp, bend and walk/stand/sit for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and utilize basic hand tools for gathering and testing samples of construction materials
