Engineering & Operations Internship/Coop

CHS has an exciting opportunity at our Ethanol facility in Annawan, IL. We are looking for an Engineering/Operations student to provide technical support assistance to the ethanol facility in order to achieve optimal performance while meeting company safety, environment, and economic guidelines. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. This coop is for the Winter Semester- January- May 2024 with potential to work as an intern through the summer of 2024, located onsite at our facility in Annawan, IL. 

Responsibilities


  • Provide technical support and assistance to ethanol facility to achieve equipment reliability and performance while meeting company safety, environment, and economic guidelines.
  • May participate in a variety of different activities including mechanical equipment design, inspection data analysis, fitness for service evaluations, equipment repair plan development, materials selection, root cause failure analysis, and troubleshoot equipment performance and develop recommendations for maintenance.
  • Work with Process Engineers to design and install new projects and other plant improvements.
  • Recognize and report and/or suggest recommendations regarding safety, health and environmental issues that impact operations and personnel.
  • Projects may include equipment design, preparation of specifications, equipment integrity evaluations, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques in particular areas of assignments.

Minimum Qualifications (required)


  • Currently a Junior or Senior enrolled in a Mechanical, Agriculture, Electrical, Chemical, or Bio-Chemical program at an ABET accredited four-year college/university
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week, onsite in Annawan, IL
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators

  • Previous internship experience in the ethanol oilseed industries
