CMM Programmer

This position provides Quality Engineering support to Parkway Products production and Parkway Products Project Engineering Teams regarding quality issues during new program launch through production life cycle.  Manages the quality and regulatory aspects of mold and assembly qualification including customer contact, through project development. Exhibits strong blueprint understanding and GD&T interpretation to develop CMM programs for part qualification inspection from CAD models. The position is largely self-directed.

 Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to project development teams regarding quality issues, measurement data and measurement techniques, statistical methods and analysis, and regulatory issues. 
  • Review and interpret customer blueprints and specifications for manufacturing feasibility and measurement capability. 
  • Develop CMM programs for full part qualification during launch and in-process production inspection as required. Develop, utilize and evaluate SPC data for in-process part quality capabilities. Conduct statistical studies of process capability and process control to assist process engineers in achieving capability.
  • Communicate with customers to understand and define their quality requirements. Work with Project Engineer in negotiating requirements when appropriate. 
  • Creates and maintains molding and assembly Quality Plans for new and acquisition projects. Includes specifying process-control and inspection criteria, and selecting measurement techniques. 
  • Identify the need for custom gages and gage systems, support Project Engineers in obtaining and managing their design and construction. 
  • For automotive applications, assure that the mold and approved process conforms to AIAG requirements including generation of a PPAP package and compliance with TS 16949.
  • May be called upon to assist, train, or direct the efforts of less experienced Quality team members

  • Completion of "Fundamentals of Injection Molding" Paulson Training
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches, specifications and technical materials.
  • Ability to work effectively with coworkers in a team environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of statistical concepts, process variation, process capability and over-adjustment.
  • Ability to use hand held measuring devices.
  • Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to read and write English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions. 
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings
Education and Experience:
  • A.S. in Engineering or applied science discipline.
  • 3+ years’ experience in the Quality Engineering/Assurance Field with at least 2+ years’ experience with plastic injection molding and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in applying SPC techniques. 
  • 2+ years CMM programming experience (PC-DMIS preferred – or equivalent)
  • Experience with Quality Systems (TS-16949; QS9000; ISO; etc.)
Physical Requirements: 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
