ESL Teacher

At Houhai, you’ll teach young learners at our modern language schools. We hope you can create a fun, positive, and challenging learning atmosphere to help students cultivate reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Our class sizes include no more than fifteen students to allow for both a good amount of classroom interaction and smooth classroom management. Our curriculum is built around textbooks from National Geographic Learning, so they’re filled with captivating pictures, fascinating articles, and stories of exploration and adventure. 

 

Responsibilities:

·      Maximum of 60 hours a month - 15 working hours per week, including teaching, training, and meetings. (For positions in Beijing and Tianjin. NO office hours required) 

·      Maximum of 120 hours a month - 30 working hours per week, including teaching, training, and meetings. (For positions in Chengdu and Shenzhen. NO office hours required) 

·      Class size: maximum of 15 students per class

·      Student age: 6 to 16 years old

·      Plan lessons and classroom activities

·      Assist in school’s promotional events

·      Attend staff meetings and teacher training

Salary & Benefits:

·      $2,500 to $4,000 (including housing allowance)

Requirements:

·      Bachelor’s degree required

·      TESOL/TEFL certificate 120 hours plus or teaching certification

·      Due to local visa regulations, ONLY native English speakers from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa

·      1 year of relevant teaching experience preferred

·      A clean criminal record check
