Mechanical Engineering Intern

The power industry is fascinating and challenging. We need smart and driven students to join our team. Mechanical engineering internships are available at the Thomas Hill Energy Center in Clifton Hill, Missouri. These are paid internships available during the 2024 school year. Internships will be available during the spring, summer and fall periods based upon availability. Normal working days are Monday through Friday. You could also potentially receive course credit while working at AECI! Contact your school’s career center for more information.
Qualified applicants must be currently enrolled in a mechanical engineering curriculum and have successfully completed two (2) years of work toward a Bachelor of Science degree. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access) and AutoCAD is desired. As with any position, attendance and being on time is an important requirement.
As a mechanical engineering student, projects may include the following:
- Perform various engineering tasks focused on increasing the reliability of our existing coal and gas plant fleet
- Perform reviews of plant equipment failure mechanisms and provide preventative maintenance recommendations
- Assist with coordination of testing, data collection, reviewing reports for accuracy, writing bid specifications, and evaluating construction bids from multiple contractors
- Assist with power plant improvement projects such as evaluating maintenance and cost-saving improvements
- Execute smaller-scale outage projects.
