Program Leader

Program Leader
Hourly Wage: $18.00/hr
POSITION ESCRIPTION:
Program Leaders are paid staff of the Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America who take ownership and leadership of those Scout units without other volunteer leadership. The Program Leader is the Scoutmaster or Cubmaster for the Scout units they lead. They are good role models for youth, and work towards improving the communities in which they serve. Program Leaders represent the Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America (CAC-BSA) when they are in the schools and in the community.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSABILITIES:
· Complete training programs specifically designed for your area of responsibility. Training includes (but is not limited to):
o Youth Protection Training
o Hazardous Weather Training
o Cubmaster Position Specific Training
o University of Scouting Training
· Under the direction of your staff leader, carry out weekly programs for each site assigned to you as the primary Scout leader, following the weekly program syllabus. (Your staff leader will determine sites and specific program based on your availability and the desires of the chartering organization.)
· Promote our Council’s summer camp opportunities and encourage all Scouts to attend and participate and Increase parent involvement at each of your Scout units. Strive to register at least two parents or other volunteers for each pack or troop you serve. Strive to eventually transition each of your troops or packs to traditional volunteer-led units.
· Participate in monthly mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
· Be in a full Scouting uniform at all meetings and activities involving Scouts. Two Crossroads of America Council activity polo-style shirts will be provided for you, and a new uniform shirt will be provided to you every two years of your employment. Attend Scouting events and activities as assigned by your staff leader.
· Execute a quality program at each unit to ensure that every youth participant will earn a minimum of one rank advancement during the program year, Complete the charter renewal paperwork on time for each of your units under the direction of your staff leader.
· Recruit and register Scout membership, also, promote and participate in District and Council fundraising efforts with each of your Scout units, including but not limited to selling popcorn, and supporting Friends of Scouting.
· Address any concerns with your staff leader as soon as possible.
· NOT work more than 29.5 hours in a single week and regular and predictable attendance is a requirement of the job.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School degree required
- Age 21 or older
- Driver’s license and automobile insurance required
- Ability to pass a criminal background check required
- Previous experience working with children preferred
