Intramural Timekeeper/Scorekeeper

The Mitchell Recreation & Athletic Center is seeking enthusiastic students to be timekeepers/scorekeepers for Intramural Sports games. Sports include: flag football, slow pitch softball, sand volleyball, cornhole, soccer, 3v3 basketball, 5v5 basketball, pickleball, badminton, dodgeball, floor hockey and battleship.

Responsibilities
  • Setup and breakdown fields/courts for play
  • Monitoring the game/play clock 
  • Maintain and record score during games 
  • Record fouls, penalty cards, technical and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties
  • Maintain the game score and work with the Coordinator to submit results
  • Knowledge and implementation of emergency action plan
  • Attend required trainings
  • Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests
  • Uphold and exceed the expectations of Denison Recreation: ethical reasoning, critical thinking, teamwork, initiative and professionalism
  • Assist as needed in all required departmental functions

Qualifications & Certifications
  • Officials will need a basic knowledge of the following sports: flag football, slow pitch softball, sand volleyball, cornhole, soccer, 3v3 basketball, 5v5 basketball, pickleball, badminton, dodgeball, floor hockey and battleship. Other sports may be added based on need/request. Basic rules training for all sports will be mandatory.

Availability Requirement
  • Shifts are typically 2-3 hours per shift. Hours vary according to whether the leagues are indoor or outdoor. We have 3 league sessions per semester, 2 or 3 leagues per session. Our outdoor leagues typically take place September, October, April, May. Indoor leagues take place November, December, February, and March. Indoor shifts take place 7-10pm, outdoor shifts occur between 4:30 – 8pm.
  • Keepers will be scheduled 5-10 hours per week. Those who wish to participate in intramural sports may do so. Keeping will not conflict with your regularly scheduled intramural activities or classes as you can work the hours that fit your daily schedule.
