Game & Event Host

Fantasy Escape Games is an online escape room company looking to hire high-energy Game Masters. Game Masters run our online, live-streamed murder mysteries and escape room experiences with choose-your-own-adventure and role-playing elements. Currently we have seven games and plan to release more soon. Fantasy Escape Games opened August 2020 and maintains a fun, collaborative environment.

Game Masters interact with customers, introduce the room in theme, run the game over video chat (including managing tech applications, narrating the story, and in some games facilitating players’ role-playing and choose-your-own-adventure choices), play the characters in some games, provide hints, and fill out a post-survey after each game. 

Experience in customer service, theatre, role playing games, puzzle games, and/or escape rooms all a plus but not required. 

Game Masters may also make recommend on improvements to games, and have opportunities to make game design suggestions and assist in development. Game Masters are also provided complimentary tickets for virtual and in-person team bonding activities with the company at local escape rooms and other events. 

Game Masters have flexible shift schedules depending on game times. Game Masters are compensated starting at $18/hour as contractor per diem work for running games and $16.80/hour for training time. Each game’s run time and set up time varies depending on the game from 30 minutes to 3 hours. Each Game Master is estimated to receive 6-8 hours of paid training per game. Although we have game shifts available each day at almost any time, currently, we are specifically looking for candidates with availability between 7am - 3pm PT weekdays, at least 8 hours of availability per week. Candidate must be have availability weekdays December 1-15. This position would be ideal for someone with classes or club projects in the evenings but more availability during the afternoon or morning.

Responsibilities:

• Be prompt to bookings and maintain a quality internet connection in an environment without other background noise 

• Maintain a neutral background or virtual background while running games on camera

• Provide a great experience for all customers

• Greet guests sincerely over video chat software

• Manage break-out rooms, digital counters, screen sharing videos, and digital tools on Zoom

• Perform game introductions, and provide post-game briefings

• Monitor game progress in accordance with training procedures, and provide hints effectively

• Narrate the story, players’ choices, and play characters they encounter in some games

• Other duties as assigned
