Lab Assistant - Snell Lab - Microbiology and Immunology

Job Description/Job Function:
- Conduct various research initiatives per the laboratory supervisor or project director.
- Duties to include:
- Clean laboratory, dishware, and equipment
- Culture cells and assist with experiments
- Make buffer solutions and cell grown media
- May be required to work with animals and provide care pre and post-surgery
- Assist with recording and record keeping related to research
- Help maintain supply inventory
- Other duties as assigned.
Learning Objectives:
- Important laboratory skills that you will develop in this position are interpersonal communication, knowledge of scientific methods to solve problems, information gathering and organization, and critical thinking. Preference is given to undergraduate students in science-related majors.
Qualifications:
- LIFE SCIENCES RELATED MAJOR PREFERRED
- This is an entry level laboratory assistant position designed to assist the laboratory personnel in research. Duties will include making stock solutions/buffers, cleaning and stocking the laboratory, autoclaving, and other supportive duties as assigned. After the first semester of work, you will have the potential to assist with experiments and learn key laboratory techniques.
