Organization: Indy Hunger Network - Cooking Matters
Pay Rate: $11.00/hr.
Organization Overview
Indy Hunger Network (IHN) is a collaborative organization made up of non-profit and corporate partners working on hunger relief in the Greater Indianapolis area. IHN’s three focus areas are nutrition, access, and sustainability of the food supply in our community.
The Food Skills Program Assistant will work specifically with IHN’s Cooking Matters Program. Cooking Matters is a national culinary and nutrition education program that has an intended reach of parents and caregivers of children ages 0-5 years old. IHN has partnered with Cooking Matters since 2015 and offers programming in Marion County both virtually and in-person. Our current partner sites include, but are not limited to: early learning education centers, WIC clinics, churches, community centers, apartment complexes and schools. In 2023, we began the expansion of our satellite partnership program. This allows us to use a train-the-trainer model to sites outside of Marion County to implement their own programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The primary duties for this position are listed below. Additional duties may be assigned.
● 70% Assisting the Cooking Matters team with program implementation in Marion County.
● 20% Working independently on various Cooking Matters tasks; including but not limited to: assisting with virtual programming and communication with participants, processing our virtual participant waiver, maintaining the Cooking Matters data management process and entering Cooking Matters surveys into the online portal.
● 10% Participating in meetings with the IHN and Cooking Matters teams to plan the successful implementation of Cooking Matters programming in Marion County and through the satellite partnership program.

Required Qualifications:
● Ability to communicate with individuals in the community. Must be able to professionally communicate and relate to the Cooking Matters participants
● Working knowledge of Google Sheets, Google Drive and Google Docs.
● Ability to work independently and well within a group.
● Access to reliable transportation (public transportation is not ideal for this role).
● Ability to lift 30+ pounds.
● Ability to climb and lift items up and down stairs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Nutrition, public health, education, and/or nonprofit management coursework and majors preferred. Experience entering and/or working with large data sets.
Qualifications
