Business Analyst (Product Design)

Role & Responsibilities
The role of the Business Analyst is to primarily support the IMpact Program, and also to be available to work on other Organisational Change Projects as necessary. The Business Analyst facilitates the mapping of current processes, the collection of requirements for multi-sector applications development, the development of use cases and user stories that will form the basis for a major applications development program of projects, and the testing of the solutions developed by the teams.

Project Overview
Global ITS provides Medair with centralised governance, strategy, direction, innovation and support in the use of the information technologies that amplify the people-to-people strategy. Global ITS provides a centralised approach to ensure cost efficiency and integration, including country programs in the strategic design of systems, and delivers services locally where practical to ensure that the day-to-day needs of our GSO and country program colleagues are met.

Workplace & Working conditions
Position based in Lebanon – Zahle or Beirut. The role is open for applicants based and working from Lebanon – a valid work permit is required.

Starting Date / Initial Contract Details
ASAP. Full time, 12 months.

Key Activity Areas
Business Analyst, 25%
  • Work with stakeholders from different departments to identify opportunities for improvement in business operations and processes
  • Contribute to the design or modification of Business/IT/IM systems
  • Contribute to the design of technical solutions for identified business problems
  • Contribute to the creation of system documentation and user manuals
  • Accurately model data and information flows
  • Analyze and synthesize business requirements, including recognizing patterns and conceptualizing processes
  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data from different stakeholders at the start of each project to set special criteria of success now and measure by the end of the project implementation to measure the impact
  • Convert analytical findings into meaningful, actionable insights for a range of stakeholders
  • Construct workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications
  • Improve systems by studying current practices; designing modifications
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Write case studies once tools are deployed and implemented in-country programs to measure impact.
Product Management, 35%
  • Attend requirement gathering meetings with different stakeholders
  • Help define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements; identifying project team need; establishing project budget
  • Translate those requirements into a document that can be translated later into features and user stories
  • Help deliver clear instructions to the Development Team
  • Make sure that everything is documented as needed before handover to the teams
  • Help define the vision and prioritize the need and co-define project goal and strategy.
  • Work with the PM on the best processes to be followed for new projects
  • Make sure that the Agile methodologies agreed on are followed every step of the way
Testing, 35%
  • Conduct testing on different products from different points of views, based on the gathered requirements from the end user
  • Work with the project teams on testing scenarios
  • Coordinate test sessions with relevant business stakeholders and translate feedback for the technical team.
External Communication, 5%
  • Participate in meetings with vendors and donors as needed
  • Represent Medair in conferences and workshops and network to connect with potential partners and donors.
Innovation/changes
  • This position requires an awareness of current developments in the area of technology, methodologies (Agile/Scrum, etc) and the ability to identify gaps in the process and propose improvements within the systems workflow or business processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering or finance, business administration, accounting or a combination of technical and business.
  • Six sigma or continuous improvement methodology qualification desirable.
  • PSM, PSD or other agile certifications an asset.
  • Design thinking or UX or lean methodologies certificates (desirable).
  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written). French and Arabic an advantage.


Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a relevant field of work.
  • Experience working in the technology sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in business systems analysis, design, and system testing.
  • Experience working with remote geographically disbursed teams (desirable).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office technologies and applications.Experience with Visio or similar software.
  • Data mining, data analytics, database structures, data visualisation and reporting.
  • Data modelling as evidenced using multi-source structured and unstructured data.
  • Business Process Mapping (BPMN 2.0, UML, etc) (desirable).
  • System integration and Data Analysis (awareness of APIs, Data Modelling techniques).
  • Experience in developing processes and creating end-user documentation.
  • Understanding of user-centred design is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Project Management tools and general project steps.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to impact operations and effect change without being confrontational.
  • Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive.Can-do attitude when tackling day-to-day tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire relevant business knowledge and apply to IT activities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

All new deploying international staff to Medair’s country programmes (and other roles which require field travel) should be fully vaccinated with a WHO-approved COVID vaccine, supported with a COVID vaccination certificate as evidence.
