Business Manager

The Prospect Park YMCA is seeking a qualified individual who will provide direction and leadership to the day-to-day business functions of the Prospect Park YMCA. The Business Manager will provide direction and leadership to the day-to-day business functions of 2 YMCA branches, Prospect Park YMCA, including Community House & Park Slope Armory YMCA. Major responsibilities include procurement, accounts payable, receivables, budgeting, payroll, human resources, IT, risk management, and managing various projects plus the general ledger. In addition, the Business Manager will track the financial performance for all fee-based and government funded contracts. The Business Manager will supervise and manage a budget of $11,804,581.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure financial performance indicators are being met for both branches including Community house.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate all business staff and department staff.
  • Develop, track, and control the branches budgets in accordance with Association guidelines.
  • Enforce organizational policies to ensure internal controls are maintained. 
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of government billing to various agencies.
  • Perform regular analysis of branch performance by department to identify cost savings or untapped revenue opportunities for both branches.
  • Conduct and review branch audit requirements and compliance procedures for both branches.
  • Develop and implement effective revenue collection procedures.
  • Ensure contractual compliance with government and other funding sources.
  • Provide support with strategic planning activities and competitive market analysis.
  • Participate as an active member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Assist in providing leadership to branch wide efforts including the Annual Support/Capital Campaigns.
  • Staff liaison to the Branch Finance Committee and the Association Business Cabinet.
  • Supervise the branch Human Resources Functions. Will handle HR responsibilities in the absence of staff.
  • Managing IT for both branches
  • Risk Management for both branches

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree in Accounting a plus.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Business Financial Management.
  • Experience in the non-profit sector a plus.
  • Prior management experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, required.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and Hyperion is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication.
