Research Assistant - Scientific Software Engineering Center (SSEC)

The Scientific Software Engineering Center (SSEC) in the eScience Institute at the University of Washington is seeking Research Assistants (GRSAs) who will have clear demonstrative software engineering experience and skills for a full time hybrid position (20 hours a week).

The SSEC is part of the Schmidt Futures supported Virtual Institute for Scientific Software (VISS). SSEC seeks to accelerate the pace of scientific discovery through the support and development of better quality, more sustainable scientific software. The objective of the center is to improve the quality of research and accelerate scientific advancements, and to support longer-term reusable platforms and systems that encourage best practices in open science.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Please review tasks tracked https://github.com/uw-ssec/codeuw to gain understanding of the type of programming tasks you will be expected to work on while partnering with - and receiving mentorship from - our Software Engineers.

Minimum Education Required:
Current master's or PhD student.

Salary: This is an Academic Student Employee (ASE) position governed by the UAW Contract and paid in accordance with the TA/RA Salary Schedule associated with the student’s academic department.

Tuition: This position is eligible for a tuition waiver if appointed as a 50% FTE Research Assistant.
