University Communications focuses on building the brand, enhancing the reputation, and growing public understanding of the University of Chicago. We partner with schools, divisions, offices, institutes, centers, and other areas across the University to increase understanding, recognition, and advocacy of UChicago’s impact and eminence as a leading global research university.
The Internal Communications team disseminates information to staff and academics around the university to keep the community informed, engaged, and connected. We manage the UChicago Intranet, the @UChicagoEats Twitter, and produce the UChicago Citizen Newsletter.

Autumn Quarter Internal Communications Intern | Hybrid

The University of Chicago’s Hyde Park Campus in Chicago, IL
The Autumn Quarter internal communications intern will have the opportunity to work in the University Communications office in Edward H. Levi Hall but will not be required to work in the office at any point. This role will require a presence on the Hyde Park campus on weekdays with availability to visit the food trucks on Ellis Ave between 57th street and 59th street during lunch hours.

Job Duties and Responsibilities 
This role will support internal newsletter production, provide content creation and content management support for the UChicago Intranet, and assist in maintaining the @UChicagoEats Twitter account including reporting on the food trucks on campus on available weekdays during lunch. This role will have the opportunity to author various feature stories on relevant topics, events, and programming around campus that appeal to a staff and faculty audience. An ideal candidate would be interested in communications or social media, with good writing and editing skills. This role will gain training in the Sitecore CMS as well as experience in content writing and social media management. There is an opportunity within this role to explore specific areas of interest for the chosen candidate with the potential to gain experience in website accessibility, Google Analytics and other data collection and reporting tools.

Requirements

Required experience and skills: Experience in social media management (namely Twitter), Microsoft Word, content or feature writing, detailed-oriented, creativity, willingness to learn

Preferred experience and skills: Web content management systems, copy editing, basic Photoshop, Excel, Google Analytics
