Environmental Associate

The Container Recycling Institute (CRI), a nonprofit education and research organization focused on reducing and recycling packaging waste, is seeking candidates for the full-time position of Environmental Associate. If you are experienced and/or interested in working on beverage container/packaging recycling issues, and have the skills required to excel in this position, we would like to hear from you. The candidate will report to CRI’s President, Susan Collins.
This is a full-time position with a working schedule generally between the hours of 9am-5pm on weekdays as well as some occasional evenings and weekends. Applicants must be able to physically come into the office three days per week and must be comfortable with a large, friendly goldendoodle dog in the office. Our office is located in a residential neighborhood.
 



Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing legislative bill analyses, bill summaries, and letters of testimony
  • Researching and writing content for reports, and preparing report spreadsheets and graphics
  • Preparing for and managing webinars (inviting speakers, preparing slides, etc.)
  • Attending conferences and staffing the CRI booth at conferences (plus travel)
  • Conducting membership outreach
  • Managing working group spreadsheets
  • Managing CRI’s participation in external networks and CRI’s management of its own networks
  • Working on website updates
  • Processing donations and making entries in donor database
  • Managing newsletter distributions
  • Overseeing interns as applicable
  • Any additional duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time
 



Required Qualifications:

  • Dependable and accountable with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong skills in the following areas: organizational, writing (such as member/donor communications), technical (database management), and research
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); also Zoom
  • Ability to communicate/work with high-level environmental professionals and legislative personnel
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in a related field (public policy, environmental science, etc.)




Desired Qualifications:

  • Donor management database familiarity
  • Fundraising experience
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet modeling
  • Prior experience in or knowledge of recycling and materials recovery management
  • Prior experience with legislation and/or advocacy
