The SIUE Head Start/Early Head Start Program serves more than 860 families and children from birth through age five, including children with special needs, throughout St. Clair County. This position assists with Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) and monitors specified program areas for both managed and collaborative partnerships and is responsible for the program's compliance mandates as defined in the Head Start Performance Standards and state regulations. This position assists with the development and implementation of improvement plans based on review and analysis data provided by the staff, as well as from additional sources, including qualitative surveys, quantitative audits, industry standards and evidence-based best practices and literature reviews. Furthermore, the successful candidate monitors and quality of data at assigned centers, including licensing requirements, referral systems for families and children, provision of health, dental and nutritional services. The Program Assistant meets with parents and/or Family Advocates to assist them to obtain follow-up health services as well as monitors and maintains established standards of sanitation, safety and food preparation within assigned Head Start/Early Head Start centers. Additionally, this position provides training and technical assistance to all center staff to enhance the provision of services to children and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other local and state regulations. Further duties will be assigned based on the needs of the department.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  •  Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one-two years health case management work experience. Previous work experience working in a Head Start program is highly desired. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
