Video Production and Editing Intern

C-Strategies Inc. — an award-winning strategic communications and public affairs firm — is looking for a confident, well-rounded, hands-on Video Production and Editing Intern to join our team over the summer! Primary responsibilities for the internship include creating sizzle reels, 2-4 minute project-based videos and social media animations for C-Strategies and clients. The selected candidate will generate and storyboard new video ideas with the team, edit short (under 5 minutes) videos, assist with graphic design, create social media animations and organize and archive photo/video content. The selected candidate may also be tasked with attending client events, along with other members of the social media and digital content team, to capture smartphone footage and/or record interviews for use in relevant projects.

Candidates must have excellent time management, communication and organization skills. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to pivot between tasks and be comfortable working independently. While not required, it is preferred for candidates to have an interest in politics and public affairs.

Skills:
  • Candidates must be well-versed in either Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere Pro. Candidates may use whatever video editing software they are most familiar with. Experience with motion graphics software (such as Adobe AfterEffects) is preferred, but not required.
  • Candidates must be comfortable helping film interviews.
  • Candidates must know how to storyboard.
  • Candidates must have experience with graphic design software (such as Canva or Adobe Photoshop) and basic graphic design principles.
  • Candidates must be familiar with editing videos for social media purposes in dimensions best-suited for relevant platforms.
  • Candidates must be proficient with Google Drive.
  • Candidates must have knowledge of licensing requirements for stock audio and visual assets.

Equipment:
  • Since this role will largely consist of remote work, candidates must have their own computer and access to whichever video editing software they plan on using.

Hours/Time Commitment:
  • Hours will vary depending on project load, but will not exceed 25 hours/week.
  • Selected candidate will discuss an estimated weekly hour commitment with C-Strategies.
  • C-Strategies will be accommodating of the candidate’s schedule, but the candidate must respond to all emails in a timely manner and meet all deadlines as agreed upon.

Workplace Dynamics:
  • C-Strategies is a hybrid work environment. Currently, the team works together in-person one-two days a week from an office in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood.
  • C-Strategies is a small, collaborative team of women who are passionate about making Chicago a better place for all.
