The Boeing Company as part of Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) in Oklahoma City, is seeking a broad range of experience of Systems Engineers with Certification and Applicant Airworthiness Experience including: Mid-Level, Lead, and Senior positions. The Program Certification team uses Systems Engineering Principles to accomplish Federal Aviation Administration certification efforts for commercial derivative aircraft modifications in support of their customers for development and modification programs in Oklahoma City.

The Boeing OKC site focuses on providing our customers' fleets with timely, high quality engineered modernization upgrades and modification solutions on a variety platforms such as government executive transports, surveillance and bomber aircraft. This is a Multi-level position and level will be determined after a successful interview based on the amount of expertise in Systems Architecture and UAF Modeling.  This position is located in Oklahoma City.

Employees are expected to work in office primarily full-time. On a case-by-case basis, employees may be able to work from home part-time. In all cases, employees are expected to reside in or around the Oklahoma City area so that they can come into the office as needed to support program execution or other tasks.
Mid-Level Systems Engineer Certification Airworthiness Applicant (Level 3)
Lead Systems Engineer Certification Airworthiness Applicant (Level 4)
Senior Systems Engineer Certification Airworthiness Applicant (Level 5)

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES      
Responsibilities include but are not limited to technical leadership and oversight in the following areas:  (Level and specific role will be based on experience). 
  • Maintaining certification plans and technical documents in support of regulatory compliance for FAA or EASA regulations.
  • Collaborate with the regulatory authority (FAA) and internal engineering team to establish the certification basis for the aircraft systems and equipment as well as the means of compliance.
  • Performs technical airworthiness planning and verification support including development and negotiation of airworthiness plans, basis of certifications, means of compliance, and certification activities for complex total systems
  • Engaging with certification authorities to achieve mutually agreeable solutions.
  • Building relationships and interfacing with other members of the program, leadership, customers and suppliers to meet team objectives.
  • Review and coordination with other airworthiness engineers as well as internal engineering disciplines performed at all levels of total system.
  • Development of Issue Papers and/ELOS for new and novel equipment and systems
  • Participating in design and test lifecycle, providing input from the perspective of regulatory compliance.
  • Developing solutions for complex issues related to certification and leading team members accordingly.
  • Utilizing business tools and systems to research, analyze, and compile technical data.
  • Adapting to changing requirements and performing well in dynamic conditions.

Typical Education/Experience:
Mid-Level (Level 3)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (Level 4)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 5)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.


Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor’s, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 4 years' experience with FAA MCDA STC projects or EASA projects.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • The following preferred qualification lists details on which skills could be required depending on program needs.  Every skill is not required for this position but a general knowledge of all and expertise in one or more is preferred.
  • Experience Coordinating and develop Certification Plans
  • Experience in Aerospace and Systems Engineering
  • Experience mentoring technical teams and individuals
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences using a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas
  • Previous experience integrating systems and equipment into an all new aircraft design with a strong understanding of Part 25 Certification preferred.
  • Experience in the use  of RCTA DO-160, DO-178 and DO-254
  • Experience working with and alongside regulators on novel technologies.
  • Experience using digital engineering tools including Cameo, Mentor Capital, DOORS, and 3DExperience
  • Experience in Functional decomposition and analysis and logical architecture
  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
