Post Masters RA - Chemical Biology Organic Chemistry (7227)

Job Description

Overview

The Chemical Biology research team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory has a post-masters research associate position available for an individual with expertise in organic chemistry and/or chemical biology. We have a strong program in the synthesis and application of chemical probes in complex biological systems and measurements of probe labeling by LC-MS based proteomics, fluorescence and electron microscopy, and flow cytometry. We are hoping to extend our expertise by identifying exceptionally motivated individuals with a M.S. and a background in chemical biology, synthetic organic chemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and related scientific areas.
 
We have a highly collaborative and diverse research group, and this position will interface with advanced research in soil and rhizosphere microbiomes, chemical biology, proteomics, metabolomics, exposure toxicology, and systems biology. For a more detailed overview of ongoing research and contact details if you have questions, please see the following site: https://www.pnnl.gov/chemical-biology

Responsibilities

The qualified applicant must have a background in organic chemistry, chemical biology, or a closely related field. The candidate must be able to independently design and execute multi-step syntheses of organic compounds and related experiments within their field of expertise. Additional skills of interest include experience in one or more of the following areas: application of chemical molecules/tools to biological systems, biochemistry, cell culture, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, and/or bioinformatics.  The successful candidate will be expected to collaboratively develop novel ideas and methods for applications relevant to internal and externally funded programs. The successful candidate will contribute to and may lead the preparation of reports, papers, posters, presentations, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Candidates must have received a Master’s degree within the past 24 months or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS in organic chemistry, chemical biology, molecular biology, or relevant field.
