Information Systems Engineering Manager

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for more than six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations.
SDL is seeking candidates for an Information Systems Engineering Manager to ensure successful engineering design and execution. The selected candidate will lead the design and implementation of contractual requirements from our customers. The candidate will help with the continuous improvement of engineering processes.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for information systems engineering on assigned systems
  • Verifies and validates information system designs
  • Assists in development of policy and verifies processes and procedures are being followed
  • Oversees initial and ongoing reviews of information system design and operation
  • Coordinates information system engineering efforts
  • Negotiates and procures vendor contracts and service agreements
  • Responsible to assign and train Information System Owners for non-FIS systems
  • Oversees execution of projects including budget, schedule, resources, and results
  • Serve as a representative on assigned committees or working groups
  • Involves information systems administrators and technicians in information system designs
  • Integrates into proposal process and provides timely input into information system needs
 
Required Qualifications:
  • BS in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
  • 15+ years professional experience
  • Possess a working knowledge of networking, systems, cyber, and cloud technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform engineering trade-offs between customer requirements, schedule deadlines, program funding, and engineering best practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment on collaborative efforts involving both internal and external team members
  • Must have or be able to obtain a DoD security clearance (TS/SCI)
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be able to travel when necessary
  • Willingness to take initiative when needs or deficiencies are recognized

  • Experience leading a cross functional team
