Summer Intern - Software Engineer

System Design Analysis and Simulation (SDA) is a department within Swisslog Healthcare which performs system design of new and evolving Pneumatic Tube Systems (PTS). The SDA team utilizes a toolset of 45+ aging tools to perform design and analysis and modifications to designs.
 
This individual will design, develop, implement and maintain SDA toolsets for the purpose of modernization and integration of toolsets into current day processes and procedures. This position will interact with data analysis tools, dashboard displays, and any development associated with these toolsets. In addition, the individual may assist in the design and analysis of PTS systems.
 
Daily work will involve collaboration with Software Engineers, Senior Design Analysts and the Director of System Design Analysis and Simulation. As needed, may also work with other departments and individuals including Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Service.

Details:
  • Position is based in Broomfield, CO.
  • Candidate is expected to be in the Broomfield office M-F during normal work hours.
  • Some flex time is provided and some remote work is an option.
  • Experience with at least one structured language (C++, Java, Python, etc.) is a must. This experience can be professional, academic, or other.
 

Some skills this individual will gain or bring to the internship:
  • Ability to coordinate with implementation partners, other IT managers, internal stakeholders and developers in providing solution suggestions and constructive feedback.
  • Structured software programming and coding techniques; code analysis and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Understanding of and experience with relational database design, implementation and use.
  • Data analysis, analytics, mathematics/statistics and integration experience.
  • Output management, data visualization and report writing.
Desirable, but not Essential:
  • Familiarity with SQL Server or relational database.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Programming experience in Visual Basic and/or PowerBasic.
  • BS Degree in Operational Research, Management Science, Computer Science/Engineering and/or related field, or working toward the above.
