Student Assistant for Psychiatry Research Innovations

Department: Department of Psychiatry (as part of the Psychiatry Research Innovations; PRI)
 
Supervisor: Jessica Holmes

Position Purpose: To provide programmatic, administrative, and research-specific support to studies requiring Spanish services

Job Description:
  •  Staffing Spanish Research Service in the PRI
  • Translate presentations/documents from English to Spanish
  • Performing consent and recruitment of Spanish-speaking participants into various studies

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be a current student taking at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 3 credit hours (graduate)
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word Must be dependable, detail-oriented, flexible, organized, willing to learn, possess the ability to multi-task, and have a professional demeanor.
  • Must have solid written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally via telephone and email.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish with certification in medical translation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to understand and learn research protocols (relevant training will be provided)
  • Ability to understand research documents written in English and translate them to Spanish accordingly
  • Ability to meet deadlines since these are ticket-based work
  • Exhibiting good inter-personal communication skills while interacting with participants and their families during recruitment and consenting process
  • Ability to enter data to REDCap database and prepare appropriate reports (when applicable)

Length of Employment: Until end date agreed upon by supervisors and student employee.

The Student Assistant commits to showing up for work diligently and punctually, honesty, performing assigned tasks, following directions, taking initiative, reliability, confidentiality, checking work for thoroughness and accuracy with attention to detail, and interest in learning new skills, especially mandatory computer skills. Ideal candidates will be willing to work up to a maximum of 25 hours weekly.

Pay Range: $20.00 per hour
