PDK Physical Verification Development Engineer - Entry Level for PhD

NXP's PDK team provides EDA support to global design teams for multiple process technology nodes. Our team is responsible for foundry enablement as well as developing differentiating solutions for complex physical verification problems involving design reliability, yield and performance. As a physical verification engineer, you will be working on leading edge technologies across a wide range of design teams and multiple EDA vendors. We are looking for a candidate that can understand the technical problems customers face and provide solutions to resolve those issues.

Job Summary:
  • Develop and maintain physical verification decks for deep sub-micron technologies
  • Collaborate with design and process technology teams to identify novel physical verification methodologies
  • Develop differentiating design verification solutions on cross functional areas such as plasma induced damage, electro-migration, latch-up, voltage management, parasitic extraction
  • Interface with foundries on physical verification collateral quality and content
  • Collaborate with EDA vendors on tool enhancements
  • Create guidelines and documentation for physical verification best practices

Key Challenges:
  • Strong knowledge of EDA tool functionality and physical verification algorithms
  • Key aspects of analog and digital design flows
  • Advanced experience with Siemens Calibre DRC/LVS/PERC/YieldServer, Cadence Pegasus or Synopsys ICV is a plus
  • Strong programming skills in: Perl, TCL, Python
  • Efficient and precise communications skills
  • Technical problem solving and debugging ability

Cross functional aspects:
  • Fundamental knowledge in semiconductor process technology
  • Experience with device modeling and electrical checks
  • Experience with layout parasitic extraction flows and netlist analysis
  • Experience with device and interconnect reliability concepts
  • Ability to work with the global PDK development and global design teams across global time zones

Job Qualifications:
  • Recent or upcoming PhD grad in Electrical Engineering or other similar discipline preferred
