Summer 2023 Communications Internship

The City of Amarillo is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as a summer intern. The position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of communications and marketing with a focus on social media. You will play a vital role in supporting city tasks and initiatives while engaging with the community through social media.

·        Collaborating with a team

·        Creating compelling content and monitoring multiple social channels

·        Designing communication pieces

·        Assisting with communications

·        Taking photos and videos for social and presentations

·        Conducting research and gathering analytics

·        Editing and proofreading

$15 an hour

20-30 hours a week

Flexible scheduling

Qualifications:

·        Currently pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Design, or a related field

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail

·        Familiarity with various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube)

·        Basic knowledge of graphic design

·        Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines

·        Excellent organizational and time management skills

·        Enthusiasm for connecting with the community
