Research Technician I

Position Summary
The Department of Cell & Developmental Biology is searching for a Research Technician, who under the direction of the Principal Investigator and his/her designee, will provide technical support for the laboratory, and perform and assist in laboratory and investigative procedures.
 
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for basic lab maintenance duties, including purchasing supplies, maintaining inventories, serving as the point of contact between the lab and vendors/manufacturers, and cleaning and organizing general lab space.
  • Maintains detailed records of laboratory procedures and results.
  • Prepares and manages experimental materials including but not limited to buffers and antibodies.
  • Participates in planning, design and analysis of various types of experiments, with emphasis on primary cell cultures, lentiviral vectors, immunostaining and imaging.
  • Perform basic molecular biology procedures including PCR, DNA electrophoresis, generation of plasmids, transfection and infection of cells in culture, and the generation and purification of lentiviruses.
  • Perform animal husbandry, genotyping, and tissue harvesting.
  • Perform imaging experiments.

Minimum Requirements
  • Recent Bachelor's Degree in related scientific field.

Experience / Highly Desired Requirements
  • Some bench lab related experience is required. Experience working with cultured cells and with mice is preferred but not required.
  • A minimum two-year commitment is required due to a substantial training effort associated with the position.
  • This position is best suited for ambitious, enthusiastic recent college graduates with an interest in future graduate or medical studies who are motivated to answer scientific questions.
