Internship, Universal Creative - Show Set Design, Core (Fall 2023)

Fall 2023 Semester:

Program Dates: Approximately September 2023 – December 2023

JOB SUMMARY: Intern support the development of 2D drawings and 3D models depicting the overall design and art direction for various components of a project. Intern will support the Creative Studio team to create preliminary studies and coordination drawings that integrate show, facility, and technical elements into the overall environment. Intern will learn the essentials of listening to partner requirements, communicating effectively, and providing thoughtful design options to achieve a successful guest experience that is balanced with our business needs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

As directed by the Creative Studio team, assists in articulating the project’s creative intent during the early phases of development though drawings, artwork, models, presentations, and animatics that communicate the detailing and integration of the various show and technical elements of an attraction, food & beverage venue, or merchandise location
Develops positive and productive relationships based on open communication, trust, and teamwork with project partners, departments, disciplines, and personnel.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Senior or above.
Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred.
An official transcript may be required upon request.
Preferred majors include: Themed Entertainment, Architecture, Production Design, Interior Design, Set Design

EXPERIENCE: Prior internship experience related to position is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Preferable skills for success in role include but not limited to:

Required knowledge of drafting, 3D modeling, sketching and illustration
Knowledgeable in software’s such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Suites
Prefer someone with knowledge of Rhino, Sketchup, 3DS Max, Maya, Unreal, Lumion, Enscape, TwinMotion Software
Classwork in themed entertainment, set design, illustrations, architecture, digital design or game design
Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Superior written & verbal communication skills.
Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.
Consistent attendance.

This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than December 2023.
Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
