Internship, Universal Creative - Interior Design (Fall 2023)

Fall 2023 Semester:

JOB SUMMARY: Intern will get experience in theme park Interiors including: Restaurants, Retail stores, Restrooms, Ride and Show areas, Facility infrastructure (Support areas / offices). Intern will learn what is unique in theme park environments and basics of design based on the occupancy and use of the environments and how to write specifications and all facets of a project.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists the Interior Design and Facility team on design related tasks, including and not limited to writing and/or updating finish and/or furniture specifications, creating rendered elevations and/or models, and creating field reports.
  • Attends weekly visits to the job site to gain knowledge of means and methods of construction installation
  • Communicates with vendors and external design resources to aid the project team on day-to-day tasks.
  • Schedules and/or attend meetings with internal teams and manufacturers.
  • Applies computer skills to aid in the development of drawings and sketches as needed for the project. 
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Junior or above.
  • Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred.
  • An official transcript may be required upon request.
  • Preferred majors include: Interior Design or Interior Architecture

EXPERIENCE: Prior internship experience related to position is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Preferable skills for success in role include but not limited to:
  • Required knowledge of Revit, Autocad, Photoshop, MS Office, CAD
  • Preferred knowledge in BIM 360, Navisworks, Sketchup, Maya, 3D Studio Max
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Superior written & verbal communication skills.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.
  • Consistent attendance.

  • This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
  • Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than December 2023.
  • Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
