Job Summary
Reporting to the Chair, manage the daily operations of the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures and participate in long-range planning to sustain the department’s teaching, research, and student advising missions. Develop and implement services, policies, practices, and systems to increase organizational effectiveness. Act as departmental personnel officer and primary source of information on all related policies and practices. Supervise all staff. Oversee department finances, provision of student services, faculty support, and coordination of programs and events. Supervise faculty search, appointment, and onboarding processes for new faculty, visiting scholars, teaching assistants, and fellows. Responsible for budgeting and monitoring appropriate use of all funds, including endowments, gifts, and sponsored awards. Advise faculty and students on potential funding sources for teaching, research, and professional development. Responsible for building issues and space allocation within the department. Oversee and organize print and digital publications and outreach efforts. Represent department on committees and working groups as necessary.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with five or more years progressively responsible administrative and management experience.

Additional Qualifications and Skills
Excellent problem solving, communication, supervisory, financial, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse constituencies. Strong computer skills helpful. Prior familiarity with Harvard or other university setting helpful.
