Community Outreach Coordinator

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.

What will you do?

The community outreach coordinator plays a critical role in strengthening relationships through planning, coordination and implementation of projects in partnership with the community. These relationships with community residents, local organizations, elected officials and stakeholders help identify areas where Habitat for Humanity’s housing and community development solutions can intersect with identified needs and aspirations.
  • Build relationships and partnerships with community residents, local organizations, elected officials and community stakeholders.
  • Identify community improvement projects and implement them from planning through completion.
  • Engage volunteers from the community to support local improvement projects.
  • Coordinate and document the implementation of Habitat’s housing and community development solution in partnership with the community.

This position will focus on neighborhood revitalization aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

  • Activities and attractions: Talbot and Dorchester counties in Maryland offer the perfect balance of rural simplicity. Home to small towns, waterman’s villages, and hundreds of miles of Chesapeake Bay waterfront, you’ll find fresh and local seafood on the menu in nearly every restaurant. There’s a season for art, film, food, and music festivals and a season to enjoy the quiet and calm.
  • Unique projects: Habitat for Humanity Choptank is named for the Choptank River that runs between Talbot and Dorchester counties. In 2022, our organization celebrated 30 years of building affordable homes and completed our 103rd new home and have completed over 350 repairs for hard-working, low-income families in our communities. This year, we are working on a twelve-home neighborhood in Cambridge, MD.

Our AmeriCorps members play an integral role in providing leadership on our project sites, engaging volunteers to become champions for our mission, and creating new tools and systems to build capacity.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.

Pursuant to current Habitat for Humanity policy, this position requires full vaccination against COVID-19, except to the extent such requirement is prohibited by applicable law.
