GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Hatchery Manager, this position is responsible for specialty level maintenance, leadership, and administrative duties of the Dundee Fish Hatchery. Performs advanced construction, restoration, renovation, and maintenance work. Work involves building repair, renovation, restoration, and alterations. Duties include but are not limited to: purchasing using procurement card, purchase order, requisition and bid solicitation; project and daily tasks organization, management, tracking and quality control; electrical work, plumbing work, facility maintenance and repair. Repairs and maintenances of large equipment and vehicles. Participates in the agency safety program. Assists in the daily operation and maintenance of the facility. Responsible for general facility maintenance, landscaping, report preparation and submittal, staff training, customer service and interpretive programs. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from High School or GED.
Experience:
Maintenance Specialist III: No experience required.
Maintenance Specialist IV: Four years facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience.
Maintenance Specialist V: Six years facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience.
Licensure:
Applicant must possess a valid State driver’s license.

Successful completion of trade or technical school certification or Associate’s degree with coursework in construction related field.
Experience:
Comprehensive experience in motor vehicle maintenance and repair.
Licensure:
A current license or certificate of one of the following: State of Texas Master Electrician license, State of Texas Master Plumber’s license OR Certification from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Maintenance Specialist III-IV:
Knowledge of maintenance, repair and installation work in all major construction trades for large commercial facilities;
Knowledge of motor vehicle diagnosis, repair and maintenance;
Knowledge of maintenance, custodial and grounds keeping services;
Knowledge of repair and maintenance of major electrical and communication equipment and systems, including dangers of high and live voltage;
Knowledge of commercial plumbing systems;
Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, package units and system components;
Knowledge of pertinent construction, building and Life Safety codes;
Knowledge of building, fire, regulatory compliance and facility signage, space and use standards;
Maintenance Specialist V:
Knowledge of Maintenance Specialist IV; PLUS:
Knowledge of maintenance tracking software or programs;
Knowledge of state purchasing rules;
Maintenance Specialist III-IV:
Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook;

WORKING CONDITIONS
Required to work from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday;
Required to work hours other than 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays;
Required to adjust to changing schedules;
Required to respond to emergency and on call situations;
Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 75 lbs.;
Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions;
Required to perform work at high altitudes;
Required to operate a State vehicle;
Required to travel 10% with possible overnight stays;
