Training Coordinator (Hybrid)

Job Description
The mission of the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) is to protect, preserve, and promote the health and wellbeing of all Boston residents, particularly the most vulnerable. PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Office of Racial Equity and Community Engagement (ORECE) leads Boston
Public Health Commission's collective work of becoming an antiracist organization and operationalizing commitments laid out in the organization's Anti-Racism Policy. Specifically, ORECE works with internal and external stakeholders to eliminate the institutional and structural systems that create racial and ethnic health inequities and injustices.
This Training Coordinator position reports to the Associate Director of ORECE and will primarily support the work of ORECE through facilitation, training, content development, and program coordination.
 
DUTIES
  • Working to help BPHC become an antiracist organization by meeting or exceeding the standards set by the BPHC Anti-Racism Policy.
  • Supports the design and implementation of existing and new elements of BPHC's Anti-Racism Professional Development Series, including the two-day Core training, practice workshops, and presentations focused on racial health equity, the social determinants of health, and more as aligned with best practice.
  • Coordinates training logistics including developing visuals, administering surveys, basic data entry, responding to inquiries, ordering materials, paying vendors, outreach, etc.
  • Co-facilitates trainings and workshops utilizing trauma-informed and equitable approaches; provides content expertise related to racial equity and its interconnectedness with pertinent public health challenges.
  • Supports ORECE in creating, updating, and adapting training content and racial equity tools and materials for internal audiences. Assists with racial equity action planning activities, organizational change initiatives, and equitable community engagement projects.
  • Assists in the design, coordination, facilitation, and data collection for conference presentations, community meetings, and equitable community engagement activities.
  • Collaborates, communicates, and builds relationships with all BPHC staff including BPHC Leaders as well as external stakeholders such as community members, community-based organizations, and more in a friendly and collegial manner as we work towards shared goals.
  • Supports ORECE communications through strong public health writing, clear and compelling screensavers, flyers, infographics, and presentations for multiple audiences.
  • As an individual act compassionately with integrity and empathy, lead by example, and be willing to learn new things.
  • With others be a supportive team player, prioritize building and maintaining relationships, and work to maintain a respectful work environment.
  • Perform other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Passionate commitment to health equity and racial/social justice issues.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the role of public health in addressing racism, the social determinants of health, and inequities in health outcomes as well as strategies to advance racial justice and health equity.
  • Five years of experience in public health, healthcare, program coordination, community organizing, human services, or other relevant work OR a BA/BS degree plus three years of relevant experience OR a Master of Public Health or other graduate degree plus one year of relevant experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills are required. Ability to be flexible and accomplish priority work to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Experience designing and implementing health-related projects and activities are required.
  • At least two years of experience delivering presentations, training, and/or facilitating groups or community meetings; excellent communication and public speaking skills. Confident facilitating to multi-ethnic and multi-generational audiences.
  • Ability to synthesize, prepare and present information, written and oral, including reports, presentations, and other materials in a clear, coherent, and concise manner.
  • Ability to use Canva or other platforms to design flyers, develop infographics, and create visuals is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required including the ability to practice self-reflection, give and receive constructive feedback, and build meaningful partnerships.
  • Comfort with basic data collection, data entry, and writing short data summaries.
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team required.
  • Knowledge and experience using MSOffice, Adobe and/or Canva, social media platforms, etc.
  • Familiarity of Boston's neighborhoods, particularly Boston neighborhoods with historically marginalized populations and poorer health outcomes.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes frequent evenings and/or weekends.
  • Direct care experience is valued.

Preferred or Plus:
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated formal or informal social justice advocacy experience and/or community organizing/mobilization experience is a plus.
  • Evaluation skills are a plus.
  • Bilingual/bicultural is preferred.
