Refugee Support Intern
Interns will provide direct service to refugees as they learn to navigate American culture. People in this position may conduct cultural orientations and financial literacy lessons as aids to our clients as they learn their new home. Refugee Support Interns may also assist with transportation, whether that means using your own vehicle to take clients to appointments or teaching them how to use public transportation through SEPTA. Tasks like walking a client through a public benefits application and enrolling children into school can also be expected. Some other key duties of a Refugee Support Intern could be providing assistance with organizing donations into kits for incoming refugees and helping set up homes to prepare for new arrivals.
Qualifications:
- Certification in ESL is encouraged but not required
- Able to provide state child abuse and criminal clearances as onboarding
- Personable, and comfortable with working with clients face-to-face
- Adaptability to changing plans and circumstances
- Has some experience working with people of diverse backgrounds
- Willing to travel to different parts of Philadelphia to serve different clients
- Ability to speak a language other than English is encouraged but not required

Strong need on weekdays, during mornings and afternoons ( 8am - 4pm). Flexible with forming your schedule and duration of internship.
