Hydroponic Farming Intern
Superbloom Farms Internship Opportunity
with focus on urban agriculture, local food systems
Company Bio:
Superbloom Farms is a woman-owned, urban hydroponic container farm in the Madison Square Neighborhood of Grand Rapids. We grow flavorful, nutrient dense lettuce, edible flowers and herbs all year-round.
Our hydroponic, container-based farms allow us to literally “grow food anywhere.” We grow our products right in the urban centers where our customers live, shop and dine, keeping transport costs low.. The technology inside the farm provides the optimum light, temperature, water, and nutrients to harvest our crops 365 days a year, in any climate. We use 95% less water than traditional soil farms and no pesticides or herbicides. Growing greens and herbs this close to our customers means that the shelf life of our products is longer, as it travels mere miles to get to a plate vs. 2,000 miles from Mexico and California. This helps reduce America’s growing food waste problem, by keeping our food fresh and local.
Customers include Bridge Street Market, Kingmas, South East Market, Doorganics and a local restaurants.
