Sports Performance Intern

This position is an unpaid internship with ProForce Sports Performance in Milford, OH. This internship will allow students to: gain a deeper understanding for the field of strength and conditioning, develop as a coach, and see the differences between training in a private facility vs. training in a team setting. We will also help our interns prepare for the NSCA’s CSCS certification throughout the duration of the internship. This internship is open to Juniors and Seniors, however preference will be given to interns that are using the internship for school credit.

This internship is 25-30 hours per week. Interns are always supervised by an employed coach so that the coach can provide feedback to the intern or teach the intern through any given situation. Each week there will be 2-3 days of educational review for our interns depending on the topic for the week. These educational pieces consist of review of the NSCA’s Essentials of Strength and Conditioning book. Studying this book and the accompanying PowerPoint presentations help students prepare to take the CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification test. Students will also learn ProForce’s methodology and training model that we use on a daily basis with multiple age groups. Below is a further description of the internship:

Description: The PFSP internship program is designed to provide you with an educational experience that will compliment your classroom and book knowledge. All interns will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 25 hours per week. The program is designed for both the current undergraduate student, and the post bachelor young professional looking for experience. The daily responsibilities will include:
1. Assisting with supervision and execution of strength and speed training programs.
2. Teaching student athletes proper techniques and equipment use.
3. Attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities.
4. Participation in weekly projects and assignments throughout the internship program.

Compensation: The PFSP internship experience is earned recommendation toward further success as a Strength & Conditioning Coach, gear, and college credit towards graduation if applicable. No monetary compensation will be provided. We will do our best to help find affordable living arrangements and part time jobs.
Grading Policy: If you are undertaking the PFSP internship for college credit, be aware that it is a privilege and not a right to perform an internship with us and we reserve the right to advise your professor if you have not met the expectations listed below.
