Assistant or Associate Specialist - Yaffe Lab

Under the supervision of Dr. Kristine Yaffe at the Center for Population Brain Health (CPBH), the Specialist will contribute to population-based research focused on the epidemiology of cognitive aging and dementia. Our mission is to improve brain health over the life course to facilitate healthy aging.
The Specialist's key responsibilities will be to conduct brain health epidemiological research including data analysis and synthesis; preparation of materials for grant submissions, conference presentations, and academic publications as a co-author; as well as coordination of day-to-day research activities. The candidate will support the CPBH research program with the opportunity to lead their own projects, must have strong management skills, and the ability to adapt and address new challenges.
Required Qualifications:
- Assistant Specialist: Either a Master’s degree (or equivalent degree) in research-based science (e.g. Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Psychiatry, or Neuroscience) or a Bachelor’s degree with 3 or more years of research experience
- Associate Specialist: A Master’s degree (or equivalent degree) in research-based science (e.g. Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Psychiatry, or Neuroscience) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization
- Experience in epidemiologic and statistical methods for population-based studies
- Proficiency with statistical programming and data analysis using STATA, SAS, R, or other statistical programs
- Demonstrated effective written communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with scientific writing and manuscript preparation
- Demonstrated track record of scientific productivity
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-graduate training in field
- A Master’s degree (or equivalent degree) in research-based science (e.g. Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Psychiatry, or Neuroscience)
- Prior research experience focused on cognitive aging, brain health, and dementia
