The State Water Resources Control Board Division of Financial Assistance has one (1) opening for Water Resource Control Engineer in the Small Community Technical Assistance Unit 1, which manages technical assistance to develop drinking water and wastewater solutions for small, disadvantaged communities. The position is located at 1001 I Street, 16th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814. This position is also eligible for telework. However, when necessary to meet operational and business needs, a teleworker must forgo telework if needed in the office or on-site on a regularly scheduled telework day.
Under the close supervision of a Senior Water Resource Control Engineer, and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State and Regional Board’s Strategic Plan, the successful candidate will provide overall project management of assigned grant agreements, and provide technical assistance to small, disadvantaged communities. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, exhibit strong communication skills, follow through on commitments, and solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments.
Specific duties include:
review and analyze projects, reports, and proposals for technical/engineering soundness, compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations and State Water Board policies, guidelines and procedures; ensure that proposed projects are technically capable of meeting drinking water standards, waste discharge requirements, water recycling regulations, and watershed management plans; review and provide technical comments on monitoring and reporting plans and draft final project reports; manage project files and databases; and assist with development of guidelines, policies, and procedures for implementation and administration of State Water Board funding programs; and other duties assigned by management.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
