Teacher: PE grades 4 - 8 (1 year temporary)

Teacher - Physical Education - 1-year temporary position

START DATE: August 21, 2023, for Orientation
WORK DAYS: 190
SALARY: $43,434.12 - $85,360.12 depending upon Education and Experience
In addition, we pay your PERS contribution.

Applicant must hold appropriate licensure to teach Physical Education for students grades 4-8. Preference will be given to applicants with a working knowledge and implementation of Positive Behavior Supports.

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with students, parents, staff, and the community
  • Other qualifications as may be established by the school district
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and implement a program of study following state and district goals/curriculum that as much as possible meet the individual needs and development of students
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establish clear objectives for all instructional units, projects, and lessons to communicate these goals and objectives to students
  • Effective communication, oral and written, with students, staff, parents, and the public
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Develop and maintain a curriculum for a physical education program that meets standards as well as the needs of the students
  • Effectively organize space, equipment, and students.
  • Provide adequate equipment that allows all children to be active at the same time (e.g., one ball per child)
  • Plan practice opportunities that are structured for maximum participation (e.g., individual, partner, and small-group activities; non-elimination activities; activities that require no wait time).
  • Structure the class so that learning occurs while students are being physically active.
  • Teach skills and activities that transfer into physical activity outside of pe
  • Establish and clarify acceptable standards for student behavior and demonstrate effective classroom management skills
  • Diagnose the needs and abilities of students and prescribe appropriate learning activities for each student
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and maintain such records as required by law and District policy
  • Maintain excellence in instruction with focus upon student outcome
  • Attentive to work detail
  • Utilize age-appropriate instructional strategies
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior
  • Familiarity with, and following of, established written standard operating procedures for specific responsibilities of this position
  • Perform other duties assigned by the administration
