Associate Scientist - ddPCR

Associate Scientist - ddPCR (Boston, MA) - 229056

In this role you will join the Cell and Gene Therapy Group to support the Analytical Development Team.

Essential Functions:
  • Coordinate sample characterization (sample tracking, inventory, and testing) and data management/data integrity initiatives
  • Develop and execute routinely automated high-throughput purification of viral vectors in support of AAV Process Development and Cell Therapy activities.
  • Support HT-purification performance characterization using quantification assays, but not limited to, ddPCR and capsid ELISA. 
  • Involved in troubleshooting, optimizing, and trend assay performance.
  • Involved in developing real time monitoring assays under PAT initiative for cell & gene therapy manufacturing.
  • Stay up-to-date on current technologies and methodologies to incorporate PAT tools in, but not limited to, cell & gene therapy manufacturing.
  • Involved in writing the technical report, project progress reports, analytical development protocols and reports.
  • Maintain excellent written documentation (e.g., lab notebook and test forms)
  • Assist with lab organization and compliance with lab safety protocols
  • This position is lab-based and requires 80% lab testing and 20% sample/data management.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous industry experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job:
  • Associate Scientist: With a bachelor’s degree comparable to 0-2+ years.

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with or understanding of robotic liquid handers (TECAN, Hamilton or other) and their operating software (Fluent Gx, VENUS, or other) for automated sample preparation.
  • Hands-on experience on or understanding of robocolumns, filter plates, chromatography, and filtration methods used in bioprocessing. 
  • Understanding of bioprocessing, gene therapy process development- USP and DSP.
  • Understanding of QbD and PAT principles in biotherapeutic and vaccine manufacturing.
  • Team player, innovative, collaborative, and initiative.
