Event & Outreach Coordinator

Position Overview: This position will focus on event planning and execution including GCA’s Annual Convention, the Cattlemen’s Connection Quarterly Meetings, the GCA Tour, and other meetings as appropriate. Additionally, this position will be responsible for maintaining existing relationships with exhibitors, sponsors and supporters as well as building new relationships to support GCA’s activities. This position will also provide staff coordination for GJCA and Young Cattlemen's Council. GCA operates in a team environment and all employees are expected to contribute to the team effort of advancing the GCA mission and membership. GCA staff must project a positive attitude and image of the organization and the beef industry.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
1.    Event Planning
•      Provide oversight and general management event planning under the direction of the GCA Events committee.
•      Explore & secure event space options and coordinate reservations, on-site execution and coordination with venue staff to ensure successful events.
•      Review meal options if necessary for all meetings including coordination with venue or catering options.
•      Estimating, pricing and securing hotel reservations for staff and volunteer leaders, as well as event attendee room blocks.
•      Develop and coordinate volunteer needs and efforts to ensure successful event execution.
 
2.    Industry Support
•      Provide oversight and general management in the development of relationships with industry partners for resource generation.
•      Assist in sponsorship generation for the annual convention, quarterly meetings, member tour and other sponsored events and programs.
•      Evaluate new opportunities for allied industry involvement that enhances revenue to the Association.
•      Assist in representing GCA at cattle industry functions, trade shows and events.
 
3.    Communications Support
•      Assisting in management of social media accounts to reflect a positive image for GCA and all associated programs.
•      Help with development of producer spotlights and other pertinent segments of the Georgia Cattleman Magazine.
•      Develop engaging and mobilizing channels of communication between GCA, producers and consumers.
 
4.    Young Producer Development
•      Provide staff coordination for GCA Young Cattlemen’s Council and GJCA, under the direction of the EVP.
•      Assist in GCA’s leadership development initiatives including GCA’s adult leadership programs and Georgia Junior Cattlemen’s Association leadership development.
•      Work with GCA Junior Cattlemen to provide innovative and educational activities
 
Additionally, candidate will contribute to completion of other Association pertinent projects and tasks as they arise and are appointed including supporting the expansion of GCA’s membership.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in animal science, agribusiness, ag communications or related fields
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Outgoing personality
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and MS Office programs
  • Willingness to travel, both in and out of state
  • Willingness to relocate to the Middle Georgia area
  • Eager to learn and apply new knowledge
  • Self motivated and responsible
 
Location:
Office headquarters located in Macon, GA.

Salary:
Salary is negotiable based on experience.
