THE POSITION

The Department of Banking & Securities is seeking talented and organized professionals with a background in accounting or financial auditing and analysis to apply for an exceptional opportunity to become a Financial Institutions Examiner specific for non-depository institutions. The chosen candidate will be mentored by experienced examiners. Examinations are performed either offsite or on location at mortgage companies, car dealers, check cashers, consumer discount companies and pawnbrokers, providing the examiner with an opportunity to travel throughout Pennsylvania, and, on occasion, out of state. This position spends the majority of time conducting onsite and offsite compliance examinations of licensed entities. Travel may be required 50% of the time and includes travel throughout the state and out-of-state. Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Northampton, Montgomery or Philadelphia counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Serve as an assistant examiner or an examiner in charge for compliance reviews of Pennsylvania licensed non-depository entities. Examinations are necessary to ensure compliance with established laws, rules and regulations to protect Pennsylvania consumers. During the examination, you would perform a variety of tasks such as reviewing loan files, financial statements, policies and procedures, and identifying and documenting violations on the report of examination. You would also participate in presenting examination findings to the licensee's management team. In addition to your role in the examination, you would also attend state and federal exam training programs designed to further develop your skills and examination techniques.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by nine credits in accounting, finance, economics, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes nine college credits in accounting, finance, economics, or a closely related field.
Necessary Special Requirement:
- Must possess and maintain a REAL ID or passport for this position. Proof of possession will be needed at the time of conditional offer of employment.
