This position is located in the Privacy Staff, Global Information Services, Bureau of Administration (A/GIS/PRV), in the U.S. Department of State. A/GIS/PRV is responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal privacy mandates and raising awareness of privacy policies and procedures by implementing best practices in this area.
Participates in Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) reviews designed to identify risks to personal information and to recognize opportunities for minimizing unauthorized collection of personally identifiable information (PII). Assists with analysis, evaluation, and integration of review findings, as well as learns to identify and recommend potential solutions designed to enhance overall Departmental management of personally identifiable information (PII). Provides privacy program advice and guidance to various Department customers. Participates in reviews of existing business processes in terms of appropriateness of sharing PII information. Assists in identifying areas where management would be effective in promoting awareness of privacy principles and related policy requirements.
