Grassroots Organizing & Policy Fellowship-- NEXT GENERATION LEADERS FELLOWSHIP

Program Overview
The Next Generation Leaders Fellowship is a unique 8-week summer program designed to train and empower students to be leaders in the survivor justice and anti-campus sexual violence movement, and beyond. Fellows learn the ins and outs of how to engage with policy, advocate for legislation and organize a grassroots movement through hands on experience bringing policy reform addressing campus sexual violence to their state.

Ready to get in the driver’s seat and bring groundbreaking changes to you and your peers?! Every summer we recruit and train the next generation of student leaders who will join our national movement and become advocates for change. Join us!

Background on The Every Voice Coalition
At The Every Voice Coalition, students and survivors work to end campus sexual violence by writing and passing survivor-centered legislation on the state-level to prevent sexual violence on campuses and increase support for student survivors. Since our founding 2016, EVC has:
  • Passed 6 student and survivor-written state bills into law which impact over 1.7 million students
  • Trained 50 fellows with the tools to be leaders in grassroots, legislative advocacy through our signature advanced civic engagement fellowships
  • Expanded our movement into a total of 15 states and engaged over 16,000 students in our advocacy efforts
Not only is EVC creating monumental legislative change to end campus sexual violence but we are ensuring that a generation of young people is empowered to make change and fight for their rights.

Fellowship Description
The Next Generation Leader Fellows build skills needed to lead grassroots, legislative advocacy movements. By the end of summer, you will:
  • Learn the ins and outs of how your states’ legislature works and how to advocate on behalf bills
  • Cultivate leadership skills by building a movement of students, activists, and other anti-sexual violence movement leaders in your state
  • Gain advocacy skills including media skills by creating advocacy campaigns through social media and written media
Students who complete the Fellowship will be equipped to lead our movement every step of the way, including: drafting student-written, survivor-centered legislation alongside community stakeholders, advocating for their bill as it moves through the legislature, and holding campuses accountable to the new law. And, following the fellowship, fellows have the opportunity to stay on as key leaders in their state movement.

  • Time Commitment: The fellowship program is part-time, 10 hrs per week. Fellows must be available for regular evening sessions twice each week.
  • Fellowship Duration: Fellowships will last for a 8 week period from June 5th - August 4th (with a one week break July 3rd-7th) . Following the Fellowship, Fellows have the opportunity to stay on as key  leaders in their state movement.

Diversity & Inclusivity
Black students, first-generation students, low-income students, LGBTQ+ students, non-binary students, trans students, POC students, Indigenous students, students with disabilities, women, and all marginalized students experience sexual violence disproportionately. Addressing sexual violence within colleges and universities means addressing systemic issues that silence, betray, and push out students. Sexual violence disproportionately impacts those with marginalized and intersecting identities. We encourage and empower survivors and students who have been pushed to the margins and impacted personally by sexual violence to apply.
