Data Management/Analyst Summer Internship (remote, unpaid)

Easy Event Planning LLC (EEP) is a technology company that is changing the way events are planned across the US. Users can find the services they need (we have the largest event directory in the US), use helpful planning tools and get great ideas from our blog – all in one site. The site is poised to become very high-profile in coming years.

We have a large data set of event businesses and will use a lead generator application to discover new businesses this semester. We need to automate the assignment of categories and sub-categories based on keywords in business names. We will need to sync data between our website and Excel and import data, once ready, to the site. We will also need to remove records from the site as we determine businesses are no longer operating. Unfortunately, so many are not surviving the pandemic.

We are looking for students with advanced Excel skills who can run formulas (to identify duplicates, count values in a cell, etc), append data, run scripts to make large-scale changes and more. We currently have over 300K records and will be looking to add another 200K or so. There will also be a lot of manual coding of categories/field values as we improve our process.

As a data set this large can tax a device, you would need to have a minimum of 16gb of ram and one of the latest processors to be able to do projects.

This would be a tremendous internship for a resume. You could get extensive experience in data management and understand real-world applications for a state-of-the-art database.

This is a 100% virtual (unpaid) internship and you have a great deal of flexibility on when you work. Communication will take place via Zoom, Skype video, audio and chat.
