Environmental Specialist

Overview
  • Environmental Specialists are environmental protocol managers in their specialized areas of knowledge and expertise. Specialists are responsible for the overall management along with day-to-day roles & responsibilities within their protocols as well as providing additional support to other Environmental Protocol Managers. These employees are the subject matter expert (SME) and are the primary point of contact for the individual protocols for answering questions and providing data/information to the customer and/or customer representatives.

Responsibilities
  • Review and provide compliance comments on all work order processing through Civil Engineering.
  • Perform hazardous waste management, planning, sampling, and reporting.
  • Assist with hazardous materials management program.
  • Conduct environmental compliance inspections, including waste accumulation sites, storage tanks and air.
  • Assist with environmental compliance audits and work with various shops to correct findings.
  • Produce various environmental compliance presentations and reports.
  • Manage various databases and file management systems.
  • Manages the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.
  • Manage, track and communicate Federal, State and Air Force environmental regulation updates.
  • Assist with preparing reports to upper level Air Force Leadership
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED/Associates and three (3) year's of experience and/or additional education.
  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental sciences or similar field preferred.
  • Experience
  • Three (3) years Environmental Specialist
  • Skills
  • Computer Skills required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Programs (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to type 25 words per minute.
  • Detail oriented, capable of multitasking.
  • Knowledge of military education and training personnel systems and procedures.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
