Industrial & Systems Engineer II - Remote

McLane, a wholly owned unit of Berkshire Hathaway Inc, is one of the largest supply chain services leaders in the United States, providing grocery and foodservice solutions for convenience stores, mass merchants, drug stores and chain restaurants. Through McLane Grocery and McLane Foodservice, McLane operates over 80 distribution centers. We are looking for talented Industrial Engineers to join our remote team supporting our distribution center initiatives typically related to cost reduction and productivity improvements. A few of these exciting initiatives include companywide initiatives and network wide projects related to cost reduction and productivity improvements, act as a subject matter expert for DC Operations. Perform operational and transportation analysis, continuous process improvements, engineered labor standards (ELS) updates, warehouse management system configuration as well as facility and capacity planning.

COMPENSATION:
  • $89,000 to $99,000 base salary (commensurate with experience), plus 12.5% bonus potential

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Create and Manage Project Scheduling with internal and external project teams.
  • Support companywide operations and special projects.
  • Develop and implement improved Standard Operating Procedures with Corporate Engineering.
  • Partner with division operations to reinforce consistent process execution and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assess and optimize processes and equipment within the facility and region to support business needs.
  • Implement and support McLane's warehouse, labor, execution and slotting optimization systems.
  • Report and engage senior operational and engineering leaders and stakeholders to gain alignment on implementation plans and success metrics.
  • Manage medium-scale material handling projects from conception through startup to ensure on time, under budget and performance objective results are met.
  • Develop efficient layouts, workstations, and material handling systems for new and existing facilities.
  • Maintain current and accurate documentation of systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial and systems Engineering preferred, other applicable degrees with accompanying experience will be considered.
  • 4 or more years' experience as a regional or on-site industrial engineer required.
  • Experience with Manhattan WMOS and LMS or JDA/Red Prairie WMS and LMS (preferred).
  • Experience within distribution facility layout, racking layout and design required.
  • Understanding of distribution center operations to include receiving, selection, replenishment, routing and dispatch.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to advocate for and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced office and warehouse environment in a professional manner.
  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Project.
  • Experience with Statistical Analysis and Operations Research required.
