TENN Summer Assistant Manager
Description: The Titan Equity Nourish Network is an organization that engages Detroit Mercy students in food justice and sustainability initiatives. The TENN Summer Assistant Manager will assist with the TENN on-campus garden and all aspects of food deliveries. Students MUST be able to work on-site May-August.
Pay: $15 an hour.
Timeline & Hours: 8-10 hrs/week (on-site at McNichols campus)
Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining the on-campus garden by watering, seeding, weeding, trellising, and other activities
- Attend regular meetings of TENN staff
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and leading food deliveries to Princeton Street Block Club (PSBC). This includes:
- Pick food up from Gleaners Food Bank
- Training and leading volunteers in packing the food
- Leading volunteers in distributing food to families on PSBC
- Communicate actively with interested food delivery volunteers and connect them to opportunities
- Collaborate with Princeton Street Block Club on planning summer events with the community
- Serve as an active member of the TENN Staff Team, attending weekly meetings, participating in TENN large events, and supporting the organization in other ways
Qualifications:
- Interest in gardening and food justice
- Strong leadership and teambuilding skills
- Good ability to stay organized and manage time well
- Ability to make connections and recruit volunteers and partners to the garden
- Enjoys working with others
- Enjoys working outside and doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty
