Associate Purchasing Manager - Summer 2023

Review and authorize purchases by negotiating supplier price reductions, analyzing price increases, resolving price discrepancies and overseeing vendor consolidations and consolidation center moves.

  • Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies.
  • Manage and secure cost reductions by working with suppliers on price and potential product development.
  • Analyze supplier price increase submittals and net against rebates for total impact to the division. Submit results to department management for possible negotiations.
  • Respond to and resolve any accounting issues resulting from price discrepancies and over bills. Escalate issues that have been identified by the AP specialist and submitted to the established Medline representative.
  • Obtain sample reimbursements and credits.
  • Resolve supplier quality issues. Calculate debits for replacement products with Quality Department assistance.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum 3.0 GPA preferred, senior standing. 

Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience negotiating with outside vendors, including negotiating contracts, prices and reconciling differences preferred
  • Previous experience in documenting procedures and internal controls preferred

Additional
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
  • SAP, AS400 and Microsoft Access knowledge and experience preferred
  • Unrestricted permanent US work authorization
