INTERNSHIP - Scientific Developer, Molecular Modeling

OpenEye is looking to fill an intern position who will have the opportunity to work with PhD-level scientists and impact an ongoing effort to develop a 3D QSAR methodology for predicting binding affinity. In this project, you will work to refine a workflow for extracting experimental data, gather new datasets, validate the developed models and help develop technology to define domain of applicability of developed models. You will use Python to write scripts with OpenEye toolkits and open-source libraries.

Key Learnings:
  • Experience with OpenEye toolkits, apps, and cloud computing platform

Education:
Graduate student in chemistry, physics or a related STEM field

What you should have (formally MUST HAVES/REQUIREMENTS):
  • Experience in Python programming
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, seeking help when needed

The following are a PLUS, but not required (preferred skills/experience):
  • Knowledge of relevant databases such as Protein Data Bank
  • Knowledge of relevant concepts such as binding affinity
  • Experience in machine learning/QSAR modeling
