PAID INTERNSHIP - Curatorial and Digital Education Intern [Cleveland Clinic Art Program]
$20/hr
This summer the intern will have both self-directed projects and will assist with projects undertaken by other members of the Cleveland Clinic Art Program. The individual project will be the development and implementation of a virtual exhibition housed within the Art Program’s AR+ app. AR+ is digital app that launched in Spring 2019, that features augmented reality, scanning capabilities of art in the collection, videos and information about the artists and architecture of Cleveland Clinic.
Intern Responsibilities:
- The intern will be responsible for selecting a theme, art, and the text for their virtual exhibition.
- The intern will also assist Art Program curators with several large hospital installation projects both at new Cleveland Clinic locations and refreshing spaces at Main Campus.
- Under curatorial guidance, the intern will assist with the selection and placement of art in patient facing spaces.
- Lastly, the intern will engage with the rest of the Cleveland Clinic Building + Design Team via Daily Art Breaks.
Every day, a member of the Art Program sends an image from the collection and accompanying text to nearly 600 Cleveland Clinic Caregivers. Writing these is a fantastic way to familiarize oneself with the collection and learn to write clearly and succinctly for a large audience. The key learning opportunities for the intern will be how to select and present art and write text for a very general audience as well as how to work within a large and corporate style work environment.
Intern Requirements:
- Good organizational skills.
- familiarity with audio editing and digital Content Management Systems (CMS).
- willingness to learn and be trained.
- strong writing skills.
- excellent research skills.
- an interest in contemporary art.
