Industrial Hygiene Specialist

Job Description :
Perform conventional practices of industrial hygiene (the science and art devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of those environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace that may cause sickness, impaired health and well-being, or significant discomfort and inefficiency among workers) in an operational facility. Assess implementation of industrial hygiene programs within assigned organization.

Accepts delegated technical responsibility for a limited scope of an Industrial Hygiene (IH) Program. Performs conventional practices of IH by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling environmental factors or stresses in the workplace. Supports Industrial Hygienists performing related phases of the program. Assists in study, development, testing and analysis of designs, processes, and procedures relating to a limited scope of the group's function. Performs occupational exposure assessments of conventional work exposures and conducts exposure monitoring strategies as assigned. Organizes and accepts responsibility for the accuracy of limited technical analyses and evaluation of results using conventional IH techniques and procedures. Makes scientific IH calculations. Assists in the preparation of technical reports.

Basic Education Qualifications :
High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential
Other Required Qualifications :
Preferred Qualifications :
College degree in engineering, chemistry, biology or related physical or biological science or special studies and training in these disciplines preferred.
Sound technical knowledge base of IH regulations, standard concepts, practices, principles and techniques.
Ability to apply formal training in conventional IH practice.
Industrial Hygiene Certification helpful.
Eligibility for Occupational Health and Safety Technologist, Construction Health and Safety Technologist, or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager preferred.
